Why don’t we have internet access in the subway yet?
Why don’t we have internet access in the subway yet?
Wait! Before you answer that question, New York City, let me cover myself in case that actually exists by asking, “do we have internet access in the subway?” Because I find it so unbelievable that New York City hasn’t put internet access in the subway, that I have convinced myself that it exist and I just don’t know about it.
After all, we are in the freaking 21st century! It’s damn near 2011 and I don’t even have the capacity to check my email during one of my trips from Harlem to Brooklyn on the 2-3 train? For God’s sake, do you know the amount of information that goes through my 27 different email accounts during that time?
A NYC New Year’s Eve is like no other
Thanksgiving came and went. Hanukah is in full swing. And Christmas is just around the corner.
Call me crazy and even a contradiction to my love of food, but when it comes to the holiday season, my favorite holiday is undoubtedly New Year’s Eve.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Thanksgiving. I’m a gourmand, and I can eat until the cows come home, and even then, I’d be in the mood for steak. I love Christmas and respect Kwanzaa and Hanukah too, but while part of me loves the familial aspect of those holiday traditions, it’s the commercialism and idolatry of it all that takes away from their otherwise pure intentions.

Clippers, Republicans… One of a kind?
Recently, I ragged on the Republican Party. So in the spirit of equal time, I ought to give the Democrats their due. But I’m skipping the Democrats’ turn just this one time.
Besides, if you will recall, I did do a piece on the “Left Leaning Lemurs,” to which I got plenty of Democratic hazing. So in a “snake draft” approach, it is theoretically fair of me to go after the Republicans for the second time in a row, no?
So what’s the issue now? Healthcare? Welfare? Financial Reform?
Nah. I’m going in a more general direction. Much like my last piece on the Republicans, I’m more interested in the long-term interests of the Republican Party. What were they before? What are they now? What will they be?

KFC Against Cancer?…Really, America?
Only in this money-driven, capitalistic, can’t see any further than 3 months in the future society, can a company with “fried chicken” as its money-maker be national partners with Susan G. Komen for the Cure (SGKC), a breast cancer education and research non-profit based out of Dallas.
Are we serious, America?
Am I the only one aware that oily, greasy, deep-fried meats increase the chances of developing cancer?
Probably not. But perhaps no one at the SGKC is aware of that, because they are taking fifty-cents for every bucket of KFC chicken sold, guaranteeing them a check for anywhere between $1 million and $8.5 million. It’s quite astounding, don’t you think?
